Here you can see 3 different types of LCD screens, they are not compatible with each other. You have to replace your screen with same type. The PSP 1000 series was produced in 2005, 2000 series in 2008 onwards and the new slim & lite 3000 series was produced in 2009. It's important to note that the lcd screen can break in any version, Sony has not made any attempt to make the PSP more robust although they used to provide a wrist strap which nobody used and I don't think they include that anymore.
